Empty Gesture

Blog Entry, Complaints, politics No Comments »

Going along with my previous post, I found this via reddit.com. I always wonered if I was the only one who thought the little yellow ribbons were kind fo a waste.  I want to be supportive of our troops, but I don’t support this war or our “leader” and quite frankly, slapping a ribbon on your SUV is not doing damn thing for the troops on the front line.

Ribbon magnets support Wal-Mart, not the troops

I agree! I agree! Buying some cheap ass magnet at Wal-Mart does not make you a patriot, nor does it really show support for the troops! You want to support the troops? Get that ass-clown Bush out of Washington and replace him with someone who has a plan to get us out of that damn war, someone like Obama!

Election 2008 cannot come quick enough! Still blows my mind that we allowed this douche bag to screw up our country for the past 7 years and did nothing about it.

Go Obama!

Gasp! A movie that is “anti-christian”! Run for the hills!

Blog Entry, Complaints, Parenting, religion No Comments »

After receiving what I felt was a inflammatory e-mail attacking anyone who is not of a “christian” mindset, I checked out the trailer for the movie The Golden Compass.

Looks awesome, and I will for sure be seeing the movie, kids included by myself, wifey just watched the trailer and said it looked too violent for the boys! GASP!!

I, too, checked this out on Snopes.com and it is true. I hope this movie is a big box-office bust! You can research this for yourself with this article on Snopes.com. It is very anti-religion of any kind. It is beyond comprehension why these 3 big movie stars would even deem this script as one they felt compelled to use to ‘advance’ their careers. Please look into this movie and preview the book so your children and grandchildren will not be exposed to this kind of so-called literature and its defamation of our religious beliefs.

PS If any of you have differing information on this movie, I am open to seeing that and forwarding it as well. I admit that not viewing a movie first before sending out an email like this is not my usual way to approach something of which I don’t approve. Your input from other sources would be appreciated. Thanks!

Please read! ( FYI)

THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a new movie targeted at children, will be released December 7, 2007. This movie is based on a the first book of a trilogy
by atheist Philip Pullman. In the final book a boy and girl kill God so they can do as they please. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that ‘My books are about killing God.’

The movie is a watered down version of the first book and is designed to be very attractive in the hope unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie and that the children will want the books for Christmas.

The movie has a well known cast, including Nicole Kidman, Kevin Bacon, and Sam Elliott. It will probably be advertised extensively, so it is crucial that we get the word out to warn parents to avoid this movie.

Gandhi likes Christ

Blog Entry, Complaints, religion No Comments »

I like this bumper sticker. I also like a lot of the other stickers they offer.

I wanted to confirm the quote. Found it here, as well as other sites. Take a minute to read what he says. I’m an atheist, but I still get what he is saying. The things that people claim that Christ said and did were all good things, or rather nice stories about how to live a good life and treat others. However, as we know, that is not exactly what a lot of his “followers” did. Read up on it.

Basement flood!

Blog Entry, Complaints No Comments »

We needed the basement to flood like I need another hole in my head. Waiting to hear from insurance company as well as companies that come out to do clean up. Entire basement is going to have to be treated for mold, mildew, and bacterial growth. What a chore. I’m laying down a bet that Allstate, you know them, the “Your in Good Hands” people? I bet they will find some way to say that this is not covered for some reason.

truck repairs, trip to Indiana and my brothers b-day

Blog Entry, Complaints No Comments »

Well, where in the world to start with this post. I have a few things to cover in this post:

  • extensive repairs to my truck
  • trip to Indiana without “mommy”
  • my brother’s surprise b-day party

On May 8th I noticed the temperature gauge going up a bit over the normal range while driving to Ravenna. No big deal, never over-heated and then went back to normal. Quick call to the dealer and they advise that I am 10K miles past the recommended “flush n fill”, even though the last time I was at the deal the service rep told me that the coolant was good for 100k miles. Turns out that is a load of crap. Read the rest of this entry »
