Back surgery

Heading to Beachwood for my back surgery at 11 AM today! Won’t be an instant relief from pain, but it’s a start and within a few weeks I’ll be much better off. Never wanted surgery on my back, until I was bed ridden for 7 weeks! That made me change my mind.

I hate Facebook!

I have a hate/hate relationship with FB. I generally hate it and only use it for keeping up with businesses. I don't see any posts of much quality, and generally I'm more irritated after looking at FB than before I looked, so I've deleted the apps and am taking yet another break from FB. Perfect time to start putting some new stuff up on my site for my family to see and keep up with what we are up to.

So, where do we find ourselves on September 27, 2020? Well, I'm still down with the pinched nerve in my lower back. Been confined to bed for the most part since August 12th! It has really, really sucked, to say the least. After trying Pain Management for several weeks I finally went to see a surgeon last week and he immediately saw my problem and is confident he can fix it with a simple procedure called a discectomy. Basically, he is going to trim down the disc that is bulging and pinching my nerve root so it has some room and won't be causing me all this pain. My surgery is on 09/30/2020, and it's outpatient so I'll be home that same day.

Last Thursday afternoon Laurie started feeling bad, sore throat, but not bad. Within 12 hours she is down for the count, had to call off of work and go see her PCP.  The doctor believes she has Covid-19, but we won't know until her tests comes back this week.  I'm doing what I can to help her out, but with my situation, it's not much and I feel bad!  Hopefully she gets better soon!

What a F'd up year! I know everyone is looking to a new year, but I really don't see anything changing much, which is depressing!

Puppies (Luna and Rey) are doing great, getting bigger every day it seems.

They really are amazing dogs. We really don't have any issues with them to complain about! We all love them, but Laurie really loves them and they love her back! It's a joy for Laurie when she comes home from work and the dogs go a little nuts and are super excited to see her. She hasn't had that since the boys were little!

I'm itching for a new tattoo, and I'm thinking a plague doctor, which seems appropriate to get done in 2020 if I can.

X-Mas 2019!

Holidays 2019 with the Knisely's!

We had another great holiday season here at the Knisely household! We had Mom and Debbie over on X-Mas Eve and had a nice visit with them.  On the big day, we had our time with the boys in the morning, which was really nice! I think they both got what they wanted and everyone was pleased with the morning. The rest of the day was spent with the Fritzsche's!

Last day of 2019 is here! We are not doing much tonight, but Collin is having friends over to celebrate the new year! Hoping everyone has a great start to 2020, I know we will. We've got lot's of plans for 2020! Watch for updates!

New DSLR camera!

Laurie and I treated ourselves to a new camera for the holidays. We are tired of iPhone photos making up 100% of our memories of all the trips we have done and will do in the future.

We picked up a new Cannon Rebel SL3! 

We both had an interest in photography, a long time ago, so we are renewing that interest! I've signed us up for an intro course to learn how to use the camera and get off of Automatic mode!

I went out yesterday and I got a nice photo, for a very, very amateur, of a Cardinal. I like it and can't wait to learn more about photography!

Today, a hawk landed on the shed in our neighbors yard, with his breakfast!

Thanksgiving 2019

Had another great Thanksgiving dinner at our house for 2019! We had all of the Knisely's, Mom, Debbie and Sandy and Paul! It was a full house, but we all fit around the table and had a great time! It was so good to have Debbie with us, it's been a while since we've been together for a holiday.

Chicago 2018!

Greetings from the Windy City! I'm in Chicago covering a go live event at a hospital located downtown. I'm currently in a office building, 23rd floor about 1/4 mile from Navy Pier.

I got here yesterday morning and had the whole day to check things out. I got to ride the big Ferris Wheel yesterday which was pretty cool, would have been better with my family of course! Navy Pier was pretty quiet, it is the first week of March after all.

I just kind of bummed around downtown, had a coffee, did some people watching, broke my diet all to pieces with beer and deep dish Chicago pizza!  I did walk 7 miles, so that helped some.
